China-Xchange- Cultural exchange in the language of the heart

The following testimonies have been given by teams which have been sent and from students in China.

Testimonies

"Please when can we have the next team? We wish to have many more Xchange teams come to our university as soon as possible!"
Dean from the University (who had tears in her eyes when the team departed)

"It was great to see that talking with the students as well as living out what I said had such an impact on them. I will never forget my time there or the people who I met. I may have had an impact on them, but they definitely had a big impact on me as well."
Xchange team member

"I prayed for my food in front of my students on several occasions and I was so surprised when the last day that I was with them they asked me if they could pray with me! It was wonderful to see all 6 of them on the table bow their heads and pray!"
Xchange team member

"The subject for one of our lessons was relationships and when we began to talk about forgiveness two girls shared how they had a difficult situation at home and they were touched by our conversation. It was a great opportunity to encourage them and to get them thinking on a different level."
Xchange team member

"The more we opened up to the students, the more they opened up to us. One day we taught a lesson on traveling, ‘Life is a journey, where will it end?’ The students shared their ideas and then one student asked me what I thought..."
Xchange team member

"Outside the classroom we focused on informal chances to help the students to practice their English, for example just hanging out and eating meals with them, and at those moments it became more personal and we were free to talk about deeper issues."
Xchange team member

"What touched me most was that these foreigners were not only here to teach us but they were willing to really get to know us and they were so caring and encouraging. I loved it that they taught something beyond knowledge, for example unconditional love, forgiveness and healthy/unhealthy relationships."
Chinese student

"The students loved to be with our team members because they saw something special in their caring, open and warm-hearted way of life. The team definitely had an impact on these student's lives. They challenged their value system, world-view and definition of love..."
Xchange team leader

"If we keep teams coming, the whole younger generation will be changed. That's what they long for, you know, somebody who really cares for them, telling them that they have value just by being themselves.... I believe this program is going to work, because it's not our work, but it's His heart to see the broken-hearted being restored."
